Second hackintosh ready

After a long time, I decided to build a new hackintosh. The reason for that was the poor quality of Apple's butterfly keyboards of their Macbook Pro series and the lack of upgradability. These days we are talking a lot about our environment (Fridays for future). For me, it is absurd that a company like Apple is allowed to sell its products in Europe.

Items I use for my hackintosh setup:

  • Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming Intel Z390 So.1151
  • 32GB G.Skill Aegis DDR4-3000 DIMM CL16
  • Intel Core i9 9900 8x 3.10GHz
  • be quiet! Dark Rock PRO 4
  • be quiet! 700W power supply
  • Samsung 120G SSD (Will be replaced soon by a bigger one)
  • TP-Link TL-ANT2408C
  • WTXUP for Broadcom BCM94360CS2

Currently, I am using the built-in graphics card (Intel 630 UHD ) provided by the CPU. It is sufficient for my work as a software developer but if I feel the demand for a dedicated graphics card, then I would choose one of the following graphic cards.
  • Radeon RX 470
  • Radeon RX 480
  • Radeon RX 570
  • Radeon RX 580
  • Radeon Pro WX 7100
  • Radeon RX Vega 56
  • Radeon RX Vega 64
  • Radeon RX Vega Frontier Edition
  • Radeon Pro WX 9100
Short introduction of how to install MacOS on your hackintosh

  1. You create a MacOS installer usb stick
  2. Then you install Clover on the same usb stick where you have installed MacOS installer
  3. Determine what type of kexts you need for your hardware
  4. If you have any problems during the bootstrap of the installer, then it could be one of the following reasons
  • Choose another memory fix (AptionMemoryFix, OsxAptioFixDrv, OsxAptioFixDrv2 or OsxAptioFixDrv3) but only one.
  • You missed one boot argument such as slide=0

What is Clover, how to install it and use?
"Ok, i try to tell it to you as easy as possible. Clover is the bootloader. You need Clover to start macOS. When you created the stick, you started the Clover installer and chose the USB drive as the destination where Clover shall be installed. So now you got Clover on the USB drive to start macOS. After that, you booted from the USB drive to install macOS. Now macOS is installed on the SSD, but the bootloader is not on the SSD. Just macOS... That's why you still need the USB drive to boot macOS.

So all you have to do is install Clover on the SSD drive as well! Its the same process when creating the Clover USB drive except for this time when you start the Clover installer, you choose the SSD drive as the destination. After clover is installed on the EFI of the SSD, you take the files from the EFI of the USB drive and copy it to the EFI of the SSD. After that, you can choose the SSD drive in the BIOS as boot media and you can start macOS without the USB drive."
